Love the Ride!

The Hubby & I found ourselves with a few extra days and a few extra bucks and only 30 % chance of rain, so we decided to take a motorcycle ride to Copper Harbor. So we took off Thursday afternoon with plans on being at the Mackinaw Bridge by 9:30 pm and finding a place to set up a tent. We were driving near Bay City when the rain started. We pulled over at a rest area to put our rain gear on and 4 people, one right after the other, stop by us to let us know there was a tornado warning in the area. Jeezzz. So we step inside the building had a snack and waited for the storm to pass.
We figured since the storm had passed there was no need to get our rain gear on so we hopped on the bike and drove away. Ten minutes down the road……downpour. Once you’re wet, you’re wet; time to suck it up and press on. The rain stopped and the weather got ALOT cooler. We reached West Branch at 8:30pm and decided to sit in Bob’s Big Boy and drink copious amounts of hot coffee and split a sandwich. With renewed energy and only damp clothes, we headed toward the bridge.
We arrived at Mackinaw City at 10:30pm. Through chattering teeth I asked my hubby to stop at the nearest Motel, screw camping. It took me 2 hours to warm up enough to fall asleep all the while telling myself “tomorrow is a brand new day”.
We woke up, cleaned up and were across the Mackinaw Bridge by 7:30am. We found this nice diner along Route 2 and stopped for breakfast. As we pondered the dark clouds that lay in the direction of our destination, the waitress was kind enough to tell us that there was a severe storm warning that included hail, strong winds and tornados. REALLY?!?!?!?!?! I am a self confessed fair weather rider!! I stared at my husband silently for a moment and then I told him that I wanted to go home. He did not argue.
We got on the bike and headed back. As we crossed back over the bridge we noticed the wind had picked up considerably and the dark clouds were coming fast. The sky opened up and we were drenched in an instant. We rode in that rain for 2 hours before it cleared up. It was sunny and warm the rest of the way home; very enjoyable. We arrived home safe and sound to a house with no power.

Sometimes you just gotta laugh! I love my life!!

Summer

This summer has been very exciting and very fast.

Since April I have had the pleasure of being an extra/background artist : ) on several films... S.W.A.T.: Fire Fight, Real Steel, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Machine Gun Preacher and Home Run Showdown. I have met some of the most amazing and talented people and had a blast doing it. Although the hours can be long and sometimes the food not so good, it is fascinating to watch the process.

In July, I was able to make it to D.C. to visit with my dad and some old friends. It always goes to fast and I never get to see everyone I wish I could. We did take the time to show Patrick around the city since he was so young when we moved. He loved the American History Museum and the exhibit on Lincoln.

We also had the opportunity to visit Garett's parents in Charlevoix. A Flywheeler's Festival http://www.walloonlakeflywheelers.com/home.htm and Venetian Festival http://www.venetianfestival.com/...can't beat that!

And now summer is coming to a close and I'll be back at school in 3 weeks. But that will be a new adventure too, because I'm switching to the elementary school...can't wait to see their cute smiley faces.

I love my life!! Can't wait to see what happens next....

Struggling

What a struggle. Some days it is difficult not to get bogged down by all the crap that comes my way. My nature is to want to fix everything and make everyone comfortable. I am constantly reminded such things are not within my power.

"If you want to believe that what you physical eyes can see is all that there is, then fine, go ahead. Stay in that small fractional perception of reality if you choose. But at some point-even if it is at death-we all know better"

I choose to be sane in a world gone mad. Peace.

The Best Easter, Ever

In the spring of 1989 Jeff and I went to his parent’s house in SW Virginia. Jeff and I had been married for 9 years and we had our share of ups and downs but we had settled into an easy pace. I was very pregnant with our second child. Easter Sunday we all got up to go to church. Jeff and I didn’t attend church at home, we went for his mom. So imagine my surprise went Jeff march up to the alter at the end of the service and asked the Lord for forgiveness. It was a joyous day. When we got back home we started attending the local Baptist church every Sunday. When our son was born blue, we prayed. When we were told he was okay, we thanked the Lord. And in January 1991 when Jeff had his accident, I called on the Lord. He passed away but I know he is in a far better place. Thank you Lord.

We need to believe, again

In the late 80's the factories closed in Flint, MI and they still haven't recovered. In 2001 the World Trade Center was destroyed by terrorists and still hasn't been rebuilt. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans and it still hasn't recovered. In 2008 the car companies and banks nearly went belly up and after trillions of our hard earned dollars recovery still eludes us. We use to be the go to country to get the job done, but in the last 20 years we seem to have developed a serious case of Attention Deficit Disorder. WE NEED TO BELIEVE & to vote for people who will shut up and DO WORK!
